Family Reunion 2016

This year our annual Oberholtzer family reunion was hosted by Darin.  We started out on Thursday at Lagoon. Zander and Dave rode roller coasters and water slides.  Haylie and I hung out mostly in the waterpark.  Haylie had a great time hanging around with her cousins there. I didn't get any pictures from Lagoon since I was at the water park and didn't have my phone with me. On Friday we went to This is the Place Heritage Park.  It is in Salt Lake at the place where Brigham Young arrived with the first group of pioneers.  They have lots of restored buildings and activities to do revolving around the pioneers. On Saturday, we stayed around my parents house in Perry visiting and playing games.  I consider the wonderful family I was born into one of the greatest blessings of my life.  I love that we all get along, and some of my closest friends are my family members.  Can't wait for more fun next year!!

Camping

This spring we bought a small camper.  It has made for some fun times this summer camping and spending time together!  These pictures are from Memorial Day weekend at Staker Springs near Cleveland, UT.  It was the first trip the whole family made with the camper.

May 27, 2016--Last day of School

Haylie finished 4th grade and Zander finished 2nd grade on May 27, 2016.  I feel blessed that they get to go to such a good school and that they enjoy their time there.  I also feel blessed for the summer when I get to have them to myself for awhile! I am not sure how they got to be so big!

Zander's Birthday and Baptism

Zander turned 8 on April 10, 2016.  We celebrated by going to The Museum of Natural Curiosity in Lehi, UT.  It is a really fun place for kids to try out all kinds of different things.  It was a nice change from the usual party with friends.  We did that on the day before his birthday and then on Sunday, (his birthday) We had cake and opened his presents.  I love my little family and the fun celebrations we get to have together!

Zander was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on April 30, 2016. Grandma and Grandpa Oberholtzer, Uncle Darin, and a couple of the Harwood cousins, (Rylan and Tayson) were able to travel to support him on his special day.  We also had lots of friends from Price attend as well.  I love this little boy so much!  He has some quirks that make him truly unique.  He has a good heart and a strong will that will serve him well as he learns and grows.

Easter

This year, Dave was scheduled to fly out to North Carolina for a training on Easter Sunday so we decided to celebrate a week early with coloring eggs and finding Easter Baskets.  It was a joyous occasion until we all went up stairs to play a new game that Haylie got in her basket.  Charlotte took advantage of the unattended Easter candy and helped herself to the whole stash, in both baskets...wrappers included!  The kids were really upset and I have never seen the dogs belly so big!  She is lucky she has an iron stomach or things could have been much worse!

Luckily, we had another shot at some Easter candy when the kids and I went to Boise over the actual Easter.  The kids has a great time hunting eggs in the huge yard at the cousins house.  They got some replacement candy, and some time on Grandpa's iPad when he dozed off!

Shooting Guns

We took the kids out in the hills near our house to let them try shooting some rifles.  They were each given a small .22 by Grandma Patti and Grandpa Art that they had from teaching hunter's safety, and this was our first chance to let them use them.  Dave gave a great gun safety lesson and then it was time to put it into practice.  They didn't do too bad!

Zander's Winter Activities

This winter Zander participated in 3 on 3 instructional basketball.  He complained every week when it was time to go but always ended up having a great time while he was there.  He has a little bit to learn about the game, but watching him in a constant state of defense no matter where the ball is was at least good for a few laughs!

He also got to learn how to play the recorder from his second grade teacher, Mr. Lasslo.

Happy Birthday Dave!

We celebrated Dave's birthday in February.  We showered him with gifts and dinner.  He is a great dad and a wonderful husband.  I am sure lucky to have him as my best friend and eternal companion!!
